Regional Management

   
Denis Welch, Chief Executive Officer
Denis trained as a Naval Architect at Swan Hunter on Tyneside in the UK. He has since held a number of senior management positions in engineering-led manufacturing companies that span the shipbuilding, civil engineering, automotive and aerospace industries, giving him extensive experience in the aforementioned fields. He has extensive international experience, and now resides in Singapore as CEO of Drydocks World - SE Asia.
 
Mahes Fernando, Director, Finance
Mahes has had a long association with the Drydocks World Group. He joined Drydocks World – Dubai in 1986 and served for over 16 years in two stints, interrupted by a seven year interlude in Australia. He left his position as Finance Director of Drydocks World - Dubai and moved to Drydocks World – SE Asia in mid-2009, holding the same position. He holds professional accounting qualifications from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and CPA (Australia).
 
BB Teng, Director, Human Resources
BB is a professional member of the Singapore Human Resource Institute. He possesses a Diploma in Personnel Management and Masters in Business Administration. He has had cross-functional experience in the civil service, manufacturing and marine industries with regional operations. He is responsible for developing and implementing focused strategic HR initiatives to drive business growth and effective delivery and implementation in Southeast Asia operations. Besides developing HR, he will also up-skill line managers in key HR processes.
 
Alan Lowry, Technical Director
Alan started in New Zealand as Technical Superintendent, moved on to Cyprus as Fleet Manager with Columbia Shipmanagement, worked in Greece as Technical Director with Latsis Shipping and was a self employed shipping consultant with V.Ships before he joined Drydocks World – Southeast Asia in 2009. He is a registered Chartered Engineer, Marine Engineer, holds a lead auditors certificate and a Masters in Business Administration from Oxford University. At present he is based in Singapore and in charge of technical for the 4 shipyards in Singapore and Batam.

Toh Ho Tay, Director - New Building, Commercial
Toh trained as a Marine Engineer with a First Class Certificate of Competency and attended AMP in Harvard Business School. He held an apprenticeship in engineering trade in the British Naval Dockyard, and subsequently worked in NOL for 25 years rising from Junior Engineer to Fleet Director. He then joined Labroy Marine Ltd as Director of New Building for 12 years. He is now Commercial Director of New Building of Drydocks World - SE Asia.
 
Colin Simpson, Enterprise Director
Colin has over fourteen years of experience in various senior management positions within the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Drydocks World - SE Asia in 2009, Colin held the position of Director - Business Development (Asia Pacific) for an international Oil & Gas and Marine project management consultancy firm. Currently, as Enterprise Director, Colin is responsible for expanding our fleet and chandlery operations, along with offshore wind and industrial projects.
 
 

Yard Operations

       
 
Syed Abdi, Director, Yard Operations, Singapore
Syed sailed as Chief Engineer on merchant ships. He joined Drydocks World - Dubai in 1994 as Ship Repair Manager. He further moved into New building project management and then became the Pipe Department Manager for the Dubai yard. Subsequently, he held the positions of Divisional Director of Platinum Yachts, and Managing Director of Palm Marine, within the Drydocks World Group. He is currently based in Singapore as Yard Director of Drydocks World - Singapore.
 
Spencer Go, Director, Yard Operations, Graha
Spencer started his career with Keppel Shipyard as a Project Management Trainee. He was seconded to Alpine Engineering Services Pte Ltd as Operations manager in 2004. In 2006, he was posted to Arab Heavy Industries PJSC (UAE) to assume the position of Assistant General Manager. He joined Drydocks World - SE Asia in 2009. He has a Masters of Science in Marine Technology (International) and a Bachelors degree in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering (UK).
 
Mirko Korizma, Director, Yard Operations, Nanindah
Mirko studied Electrotechnics and Naval Architecture and started in fibre optics with TBL Fibre Optics in Leeds, United Kingdom. He gained experience in shipbuilding when he was with companies such as Stamford Tankers, BIMANTARA, and Thome Ship Management in different roles - senior project manager and technical manager. He was the Vice President of PT Batamec before joining Drydocks World – Nanindah as Yard Director.
 
Graham Comport, Director, Yard Operations, Pertama
Graham served his Marine Engineer Cadetship with Fyffes Group Ltd, and has sailed with various shipping companies on a wide variety of vessels up until 1998, where he joined Drydocks World – Dubai. He has wide-ranging experience as a Department & Divisional Manager in ship repair, new building and technical divisions. He now resides in Batam Island as Director of Drydocks World - Pertama.
